Grant added his second touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter, a 24-yard run that put the Huskers up 24-3. Backup quarterback Logan Smothers sealed the victory with a 4-yard touchdown run late in the game.

The Cornhuskers' defense was the story of the night, holding Northern Iowa to just 10 first downs and forcing three turnovers. Linebacker Nick Henrich led the way with nine tackles, while defensive end Garrett Nelson and cornerback Myles Farmer each had a sack.
