French Legislative Elections: Macron's Party Projected to Be Second Largest Bloc

Far-Left La France Insoumise Surprises in First Round

Latest Results Expected Sunday Evening

French voters will head to the polls on Sunday for the second round of the key legislative elections. The first round, held last weekend, saw President Emmanuel Macron's party, Ensemble, exceed expectations and is projected to become the second largest block in the National Assembly with 150 to 170 seats.

The far-left La France Insoumise (LFI) party also performed strongly in the first round, surprising many and boosting its hopes of becoming a major force in the Assembly. LFI is projected to win 50 to 100 seats, according to the latest polls.

The second round of voting will be crucial in determining the balance of power in the National Assembly. Macron's party will need to secure a majority of seats to implement his agenda. However, the strong showing of the far-left LFI party could complicate his plans.

The Interior Ministry is expected to start publishing initial results at 8 pm Eastern and nationwide seat projections by polling organizations will be released shortly after.
