Last year Yair Netanyahu son of former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first Israeli official to meet with a senior member of the AfD. In May 2020 the German far-right party raised eyebrows in Israel when a senior AfD European Parliament member equated the Black Lives Matter movement to the Nazi party.
